New Education Policy 2020

New Education Policy 2020 has been introduced in India after 34 years. Now, Ministry of Human Resource Development has been renamed as Ministry of Education. Education Policy is revised 3 times since independence i.e, 1968, 1986 and 1992. Though in 1992 government amended 1986 with minor changes, but it was largely same. It is also said in policy that 6% of GDP will be allocated for education as recommended by Kothari Commission in 1964. Till now it never reached 6% but was 2.7% of GDP in 2017-18. This New Education Policy includes the recommendations of various committees such as Committee for Evolution of New Education Policy 2016  under Chairmanship of Late Shri T.S.R. Subramanian and Committee for the Draft National Education Policy 2017  under Chairmanship of eminent scientist Padma Vibhushan, Dr. K. Kasturirangan.
